Jewish Preschool Service Los Angeles's San Fernando Valley - Early Childhood - Northridge
Early Learning Center (ELC)
PHILOSOPHY
Temple Ramat Zion Early Learning Center in Northridge which is located in the North San Fernando Valley offers a nurturing environment where your child can grow and flourish in a warm, receptive atmosphere. Our school welcomes all families who wish their child to experience the joy of Jewish living.
At TRZ, we recognize parents as the child’s primary teacher from the beginning of life. Therefore, we strive to maintain optimum cooperation and communication with the parents.
As a team, we identify the multi-faceted side of the child, the social, emotional, cognitive and physical area, and we view these as being interdependent upon one another for healthy development of a whole integrated human being.
We view the children as unique individuals and to accept themselves and develop their own sense of being.
CURRICULUM
Our curriculum and learning environment includes materials and activities designed to provide your child with successful learning experiences. Our staff recognizes that each child needs to build a healthy self-concept; when children feel good about themselves, they grow and develop with confidence.
The curriculum is organized along the thematic lines with each class level teacher selecting arts, crafts, music, cooking, and movement activities that are related to the children’s developmental levels. We believe the curriculum should have a balance between cognitive, academic and creative experience.
JEWISH TRADITION
The joy and excitement of Jewish tradition permeates our school. Themes revolve around Jewish Holidays. Crafts, stories, and songs bring to life the ethic and values that have been passed down through the ages.
Actual holiday celebrations teach the children how to continue their Jewish Heritage. Model Seders, Chanukah assemblies, Purim and other holiday observances add to our overall programming. In addition, every Friday morning, we celebrate Shabbat at school.
FACULTY
Our teachers meet the guidelines set forth by the State of California. The Nations Association for the Education of Young Children, and the Los Angeles Bureau of Jewish Education. Our teachers plan specific daily activities to provide a well-rounded and complete program. At the same time, children are encouraged to initiate and implement their own ideas and take advantage of the interest centered classroom. We want our children to be problem solvers, to have an impact on their environment so that their thoughts, opinion, ideas, feeling, and actions will shape the world they live in.
