Our Vision
In our safe, child-centered, nurturing, Jewish environment, our curriculum emphasizes the whole child in areas of development: social, emotional, physical, cognitive and Judaic. Our school and our classes are small in order to ensure optimal learning experiences for each child. Through exploration and play our nurturing and experienced staff encourage and provide children the opportunity to thrive and grow, to have fun and enjoy, while developing curiosity and a love of learning. Temple Ramat Zion is committed to providing a high quality early childhood program so that each child may develop to his or her fullest potential.
Our Program Goals
Religious School
Our Vision
We believe Judaism is an ongoing search for meaning, and that this search begins in childhood.
We believe Jewish identity begins to develop early and that the family and the synagogue must work together to nourish it.
We believe the best way to convey the joy and beauty of being Jewish is to provide new and creative ways for children to explore Judaism at each stage of their development.
The Religious School strives to create a rich, vibrant learning environment in which we can nourish our children's growing Jewish identities, create a community of peers that is part of the larger community at Temple Ramat Zion and the global Jewish community, and build the skills that children will need to be participatory members of their community.
The Religious School is a place where our children can learn new skills and ideas, struggle with questions of theology, meaning, and connection at an age-appropriate level, and test what they have learned through prayer, discussion, and interaction with Temple Ramat Zion clergy. Family synagogue participation in services, Hebrew School events, and social action projects will further enrich children's Jewish education.

CONFIRMATION
For all 10th graders
Taught by: Rabbi Michael Menitoff
Confirmation is focused on the students' commitment to Judaism. The class will weave Judaism and Jewish values with every day issues that our teens face in today's world. Topics will include: Dating and the Jewish Teen, Peer Pressure and Jewish Values, Drugs or Drash: making decisions that will affect the rest of your life, etc.
In contrast to bar and bat mitzvah, Confirmation is a group event. Students in a class are confirmed together and they often prepare a tzedakah project as a group as part of their confirmation. This emphasizes the importance of communal action that is at the heart of Judaism.
In an age in which many bar and bat mitzvah celebrations -- Reform, Conservative and Orthodox -- are overshadowed by the party after the service, it is good to have an event for the congregation at which its young people sincerely express their Jewish values without the hoopla of a lavish party.
When: Monday nights from 7-8 P.M. - Class starts on Monday, October 23, at 7:00 pm
Cost: $295.00 - Temple membership not required.
Confirmation of a young adult within the Jewish community is an important life-cycle event. The TRZ Confirmation Program is a way of keeping students committed to Jewish education beyond bar and bat mitzvah celebrations.
Dor Atid means "The Generation of the Future". On Sunday, the class will consist of hands on activities or field trips. On Wednesdays, the class will consist of learning and group discussions on the Judaic value of Sunday's activities.
The goal of the class is to connect Jewish values, morals and ethics with our actions and how they affect our life and the community.
Through actions, students will shape their hearts into thinking and living Jewish values that will in turn shape their future and the future of those whose lives they touch.
Homework will NOT be given.
When: one Sunday a month and one Wednesday a month. Calendar to be provided.
Class starts on Sunday, October 29, at 1:30 pm
Cost: $350.00 per year - Temple membership not required.
